Continental Economics has just published a report entitled, “Wind Intermittency andThe Production Tax Credit:A High Cost Subsidy for Low Value Power.”  The report evaluates almost four years’ of data on wind generation, and evaluates the availability of wind power when electric demand peaks.  The results show that wind generation is least available during peak demand hours and seasons, and most available during low-demand hours and seasons.  Consequently, subsidized wind generation provides little value.  To download a copy of the report, click here.
